Nest's capability spanning multiple housing characters
This month we start construction on two homes which could not be more different.
The first, located on the Manly terraces with views over Moreton Bay, is a contemporary take on subtropical design. Working with the client's brief, we've incorporated a central courtyard which brings light into the heart of the home and ventilation movement through the use of louvers. Additionally, a theatrical entrance greets you as you immediately look through a glass wall and across to the pool once stepping through the front door. In order to support the a suspend section of this upper floor over the courtyard pool, we've used exposed I-Beams which contrasts perfectly with the lightweight cladding used throughout the home. Given the coastal character, we have deliberately avoided heavy materials such as brick or render, using only lightweight cladding with select timber battern architectural details. We think this will be a standout home on the terraces and we can't wait to see it completed and handed over.
A big shout out to our supporting suppliers: #Scyon, #BrittonTimbers, #Ceasarstone #Laminex, #EdgeTiles and #HarveyNormanCommercial #GoElectrical
The second bespoke residence, located in inner city Petrie Terrace, is perfect example of how great design can overcome any site constraints. We've managed to design a generous family residence with a grand presence to the street, despite being positioned on just 180m2 of land,
Controlled by a 'Traditional Building Character' overlay under the Brisbane City Council Planning Scheme, the house features replicated traditional queenslander elements such as the front veranda, weatherboard cladding, permeable battern balustrade, high pitched roof and window hoods to create a residence which respects the character in which it is positioned. In contrast to its classical queenslander facade, the house features a modern internal specification with a freestanding bath, double shower, bi-fold doors, plunge pool, solar PV panels and ducted air conditioning to mention only a few.
We love that everyday we are creating homes of such variety. Each lot's orientation, topography and streetscape character are different. Most of all, each client's preferences are different which means we never repeat the same home.
No matter what size or type block you have or what style of home you are seeking, whether a new or renovation, we are only too pleased to help see your dream home created.
